Sergio de Salas

I am Sergio de Salas, breeder of Spanish Mastiffs since more than 40 years ago. I assume you already know this breed, but I wish I could help you to improve your knowledge.

I started breeding in the year 1962 and I came to have in the year 1965 more than sixty mastiffs. Then, due to professional reasons I had to reduce this number, but always keeping a selected group of mastiffs. In the year 1985 I was able to make my dream come true, which is improving the breed to the maximum.

In the year 1991, Reina del Espinillo, female dog of my property, was Champion of Spain, of Europe and of the World. In the year 2000, Tonio de Montes del Pardo was World's Champion in champion's class in the World's show of Oporto, Champion of Spain and Champion of the A.E.P.M.E association. It has won the International Shows of Madrid, Badajoz, Valladolid, Torrelavega, Monográfica de Rioja, Santander, Razas Españolas Salamanca 2000 among others. Its main descendants Drake, Nalón and Sony have won many prizes in National and International dog shows. Drake de Montes del Pardo won the first prize of Tipicidad in the Monográfica Nacional of October 2000, which means, the most typical Spanish Mastiff of Spain. Since the year 2000 Montes del Pardo has evolved a lot in quality and quantity. Its Mastiffs have been the most awarded both in National and International dog shows receiving the general acknowledge of many judges and amateurs.

Our main purpose is to continue improving the breed, and for this we count nowadays with more than sixty breeding mastiffs, that gather not only the genetic line of Reina, Tonio, Drake, etc. but a selection of the best mastiffs of Spain, since we try to use the stud services of the best dogs in the market. Therefore, we have dogs from Oliveros, Pizarro, Sultán, Ron, Sambo and Cruel and we will be up-to-date about using other coming awarded mastiffs.

Yours faithfully,
